Research Summary My research focuses on ecology and society, broadly defined, and employs an interdisciplinary approach to nature—society interactions to examine global and local sustainability. I am especially interested in the intersection of international development, gender, and environmental degradation. Current projects analyze the prevailing social forces that connect gender to environmental degradation and resilience and their collective influence on wellbeing, death, disease, and disaster vulnerability across nations. I am also conducting research that examines sub-national (local, regional) sustainability dynamics surrounding disasters, waste, and the environmental injustice incurred by individuals residing in toxic environments.
